After reaching out, this is what I got back about the piece we recently found.

Based on research, petrified wood found in Delaware, specifically around the Odessa area, is likely from the Paleocene age Rancocas formation. This would place it at approximately 56 to 66 million years old. The local geology also includes some areas of the Pleistocene aged Columbia formation.

Is it solid enough to cut and polish? This is a piece of pet wood I carved. I used a dremel with diamond bits. It’s fairly easy to work with those and takes a good polish.

That's a lovely piece that. 👍

Cool piece of petrified wood. It looks very much like a piece I found in the gold producing mountain of northeastern Oregon. Mine is a little shorter than yours. Congratulations! Thanks for sharing.

You sure take great pictures ToddsPoint !!! Thank you :)
