Petrified wood?

Well I got permission to metal detect at the home of some friends nearby. It was built in 1928. I didnt find anything good with the detector, but I found this underneath their porch.
I think its a piece of petrified wood, i thought it looked like a large piece of tree bark till I picked it up, its really heavy lol. I dont know why it would be in missourii, but its still pretty cool. So is petrified wood even very rare? I know nothing about it really.

Kinda hard to tell from a pic, petrified wood is found
in several states, the wood in OK is dark grey, or clay
colored, whatever the color of the surrounding soil, most
have the bark pattern visible.
I have sold & traded it for several years.

Yes that is petrified wood. looks like some i find in red sandy dirt that gives off a tumbled look.
