Petrified Wood Help

Saw a Best Cash and Treasure show on Petrified wood. Just wondering if anybody had any luck in Illinois hunting it? Wouldnt this stuff be everywhere? Trees were abundunt all over the state. You would think we would be tripping over the stuff or am i missing something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

In AR & OK, the petrified wood is found more in association with 'coal mines', I know Illinois has plenty of them, as we see 'fern leaves' from there at our rock swaps.
But some of our mines don't have much wood, only twigs & ferns, the wood usually comes out of the layer of 'harder material' in most mines.
