Nice patina, definitely a material not in the deep south (that I know of). I didn't know petrified wood artifacts existed before I joined this site.

I have 2 points made from petrified palm wood. One from the Orlando area, the other from Gainesville. I'll post them someday.

My sons and find pieces of petrified wood here in Indiana but have yet to find an artifact made from it. Most of what we find wouldn’t lend itself to knapping though...
