Very awesome finds. Some of them look like they have crystals in them. And on them last pic. Is that a blue gem of some kind underneath the big log. Thanks for sharing

Thanks an Yes they have crystals in them ... The blue rock underneath I had to inspect its one of those colored glass rocks u buy for decoration lol

Your very welcome. That so cool those are real crystals. Do you know what kind they are? And just curious. But are they worth anything. And what kind of wood is it? That would produce Crystals inside after 100's of years.

My neighbor last yr told me his wife mowed the lawn for him and hit a big a$$ rock and broke the mower. I asked to see the rock and it was a piece of Pect wood. The mower broke in rite in half. Its a piece of pine and you can see the bark in it. Pretty cool but it weighs a ton. I kept half and gave my brother the other half. If it didnt weigh so much Id send it to you. Probably cost a fortune for the shipping.

I don't know much about it I just started collecting myself it has become a hobby for me but I'll look into it an keep ya posted as I find out more

That would be cool. Thanks. Is it collecting wood or MD that your getting into. I'm in my 3rd year of MD myself. I've found some pretty neat stuff also. I'm new to the treasure net. I'm working on getting pics of all my finds so I can post them.

How old do you think they are ?

I don't understand how they could be millions of years old because the wood had to be fossilized while it was alive, which means a short period of time. If it were fossilized over a short period of time millions of years ago, why don't we see fossilization in modern times ?

When i was a kid i was digging in the ground in a vacant feild and found coal seams about a foot underground. These coal seams were very thin, like string. These were obviously new, not even thousands of years old. My teachers said coal is formed over millions of years and i told them i found coal that was formed recently.

I tend to question everything.

Mike,
Your questions peeked my curiosity so I googled petrified wood and found this link.

By the way here is my wood. I found it out west many years ago while stationed there in the US Navy.

That first piece shown is a dandy! :icon_thumright: Very Nice! I have quite a few pieces as edging around my/our flowers. ''Hope it is okay to share this piece that is in my back yard.'' (48'' tall, by 18'' x 24'')

Cool Stuff! I actually found a few pieces myself and was thinking of cutting some slices to see what the cross section looks like.

That's a cool piece, I recently grabbed an old civil war post to hang up my displays on.
