Doing some cleaning and re-arranging of relics.

This pestle was found 12/07/1998 not too far from my home along the east facing rise to the creek. The field had been moldboard plowed.
The flat face and pounding damage to the base would indicate this was used as a roller pestle and one to pound. Over the years I had found Thebes, Cobb blades, bifurcates and a few axes in the area. Not too much lately though due to method of plowing. Most are small camp sites scattered on the rises along the creeks.

All faces of the pestle have plow strikes some older, some relatively fresh.

The right side of the pestle is flat and shows wear indicating use as a roller.

I have a huge Hoof style pestle I found in a creek. I keep it in the flowerbed, just to big for inside

Thanks for sharing, it’s good to see examples of other artifacts especially ones that could be easily overlooked as a rock
