Permission to hunt 1800's homesite today. 2 IH's, Red Ryder coin and other junk.
We do lawncare for an 1800's home in Virginia and we've actually been dying to ask them for permission since we got our detectors last year. My cousin finally asked today when we were there doing a job and low and behold she said we can go ANYWHERE we want! We're talking a lot of acres here. So that was very exciting and promising. So you can guess where we headed right after work.
First signal I dug was an old toy gun revolver piece, then a bunch of misc. twisted brass items. Started working my way toward the corner in the front and got a pretty good VDI readout on the F75, about a 65. Dug it and I saw "roundness"(haha) and thought for sure it was a large cent. Got home and cleaned that up and it reads "Red Ryder; Lucky Coin" on the front and on the back it says "Penny's For Super Value". After that I dug a spoon..not silver, perhaps silver plated. It's either copper or brass underneath. Found it's companion after that, a fork about 5 feet away. All broken up. Took a little walk toward the house...far on the left side of the house I saw some tulips in some tall grass. Thought, hmm...could be some old coins in here. Sure enough there was, an 1899 indian head. My second one ever. I go over near a pine tree after that, only to find modern clad. 68 cents worth. As I'm leaving I go back near the spot I found the other IH and get another 55-60 vdi and pulled another IH, this one an 1898 and in BEAUTIFUL shape!. I called it a day after that! Now I gotta go back and pick the silver out...and maybe gold outta there! Thanks for looking and happy hunting.
