Headed to a site this morning to try to secure permission for Patriot and I, and was given the green light so I took a quick stroll through the large expanse of fields to see if I could pinpoint a few sites for us. I found two sites lower in the field near the river, and found a third as I was walking back to my jeep to leave, and out popped this two piece button. I'm guessing 1850 - 1880 date range. Now hoping we can both get back there soon and pull out the goodies!

Lots of potential!

Those mid 19th century sites sometimes are loaded full of nitnoids and lots of other interesting stuff, the sites closer to the river might be older and have even better finds

Good luck with it!

I'm hoping so! Maybe the Great-Grandpa of whoever owned that 62nd button lived down by the river and was also in the military haha. :laughing7: Gotta like the odds when you dig 10 or 12 targets and one is a neat button!

Sweet looking button...that area has many possibilities to it and hopefully pull out some more neat finds...all fields should be cut by today...

I'm hoping there'll be something nice show up tomorrow!!

It will be interesting to see how early the site and surrounding sites date...I'm hoping for an old silver and military...let's hope i'm right

Seen a minty Rev War 62nd posted on another forum a couple of days ago and with your title was hoping to see another... but any old military is still a good find.

I think we have a pretty good chance, I only dug a few targets today so I'm sure there's lots left.

When I flipped the plug and saw that 62 I thought thats what I had, until I picked it up and saw it was two piece. It's one I don't have and my first military in a while, so I was happy to know I was on a site with potential. I've been driving by there for a few years now and finally got permission today.

The best 62nd buttons are two piece, just a little different. :)

I need more reference books :P I figured this one was probably a little later than what I really wanted when I saw it haha. But I'm guessing that site is the newest of the three so I'm hoping for the older stuff tomorrow!

Nice find.

Looking forward to see what else you get.....waiting....

Oh, and good luck.
