Drive-ins are a great place to hunt. Lots of trash to deal with so go slow. A small coil will help too.

I'm gonna be using the stock coil on this machines for now but hopefully this coming month I'll look for a sniper coil for them.

i got acces to one also here in ohio, got out before the ground froze, loots of beaver tail pull tabs so far, but it was slow going, but i figure stuff been buried this long another month or two wont matter!

I think most drive-ins had a play area in front of the screen, tha'ts where I'd concentrate, also along the back fence where people snuck in to the movies in the trunk. I'd imagine that coins hit the ground as they exited the trunk.

Well loco once spring has sprung we'll get our chance!

I'll probably give it a try this weekend when my Compadre and Garrett Pro pinpointer are supposed to arrive.

sounds like a lot of potential, should free of the dreaded rotting zincoids with a smattering of silver scattered about! good luck

Great to hear Fuzzy, looking forward to seeing you tonight. Will have to fight back the tears, but I know she's going to a good home.

I gotta drive in here in my town, its used now as a massive flea market on Wednesdays..everytime I go I see literally thousands of pull tabs and bottlecaps, looks like a nightmare to me.

That's exactly what they use it here for.... Lol....went to the flea market today and asked the owner.

A small "sniper coil" would be my taste in that environment .Any idea whether it's been detected before ? Good Luck !

Nope, hasn't been detected. This is a pretty small town and there's No metal detector hunters here that I know of, if they were I would of seen them already at the Parks. Planning on hitting the drive in, two Parks, school playgrounds, old buildings the river, a creek, VFW parking and sorrounding area and the fairgrounds.

Welcome misterchivo to the forum.

That drive-in could be a great place to hunt. I would definitely get a very small coil (sniper for the ACE 250) and go "low and slow". As stated above, in front of the screen was where the swing set and play area were located. It may be to your advantage to bring a rake and clean the surface junk off before hunting, could save you a lot of time.

Happy Hunting,

Regards,

Might find some good newer-drops from the coin and jewelry dealers that set up at markets.

You are one lucky Dawg!! How close are ya to Houston?? My in-laws live there....might have to visit them!!:laughing7:
Can't wait to get my F5 and Ace 250. I was just given permission to hunt in an old drive in theatre that was closed in the 50's. I also but the Garrett Pro Pinpointer, I'm all excited, I was told I could hunt as long as I wanted in this old theatre.

A good 8 hr drive to the Mexican Border from Houston.
