What kind of rock could this be??

It may seem silly to someone else but My Adopted parents have gone on and I got her jewelry box,She never really had a piece of jewelry over $5 bux probably because they raisied 13 bio kids and adopted me after they had all married off & all on a coalminers pay so I know it isn't worth money but I wouldn't take a million for it if it was.. but in her jewelry box she had this brooch which looks like a lump of coal but it's lighter than a feather and about a yr ago I took pix of it to add to my online album and when I inverted the color,it looks like a jade color with what looks like fishbones.LoL :icon_scratch: For lack of a better description but I'd love to know what it actually might be and would love even more to know why I never saw it before she passed away....(course that can't be explained now) but considering too that he worked in the coalmines for 54 yrs and she worked her fingers to the bone at home it just makes me curious....I don't want to put anybody to trouble but maybe someone will happen upon the thread and know right off what it is........Thanks in Advance! :pot-of-gold:

So... Are you saying the stone is actually green?

I can't help you but there are a number of rock hounds on this board who may be able to help.

I suggest you change the title of your post to "What kind of rock is this?" and put something in the pictures to indicate the size.

It might help to take photos on a dark background to try to show true color.

Good luck

Sorry I've confused yall, I should have done a better job describing it........No,you can't see through it at all and
it's about 3 inches by maybe 2 inches and light as a feather and coal black...it really looks just like a lump of coal
straight out of the mines but too light i think??
The reason it is green in the one pic is because I inverted the color and that's what made me so curious.it turned green with those boney looking things in it? :dontknow:
Thanks,I will do my best for better pix and change the title,Thanks for all the tips..really appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMHO, this looks like a piece of self made arts & crafts jewelry. Those pin clasps can be bought @ any hobby shop (I used them myself for my projects). Whatever the item is, looks like it is spray painted with clear gloss & the clasp glued on.

Sounds good to me. not gold. No manufacturer markings. I think River Rat got it. Home made.
