" Perfect Pair "
Well, I started heading out to the same place I went Sunday evening, but didn't get there till late again. As I was coming down the street I took there Last Sunday, I spotted a " Road Work Ahead " sign. Being the inquisitive person I am, I said to myself, Check it out Dude! I did and found out by talking to construction boss that the project was into its 4 th. week. I asked him if it was okay to play in the dirt, and he said sure go ahead, just watch out for heavy equipment and BIG open holes. So I hastily went and got my detector, and proceeded to hunt the torn up private lawns and devil's strips. When I got in front of one house (an old wooden 2 story clapboard) probably built in the mid to late 1800's. I noticed that after the crews had removed the sidewalk, they had to cut many tree roots to replace the water line going up to the house. Well, it was here that I got a sweet sound in my headphones, the cursor was bouncing between silver and copper. I too had to cut many smaller roots to find my target. At about 1 ft., I very carefully put my hand into the hole to feel around for a coin sized object. I felt the edge.... But, alas not a coin feel. After I got the first one out, I rechecked the hole and found the matching other half, A PERFECT PAIR! I also got a couple common wheats in the early 30's............NGE
