Over the weekend I started my great spring dig. I did well my first day, which was last Thursday. The rest of the weekend went rather slow. I found a great example of a natural stone, with small visible signs of alteration by man. I am not sure if it would be proper to call this a bell or hoof pestle. It is flat on on face, and has visible grinding wear. These are my favorite pieces. The finds that are so often called a geofact or rock. One that has never had to improvise would never ever understand what I see on this piece. I'm sure most of you will see what I see.
If anyone knows what this tool is called, let me know please. I also found a scraper that reminds me of one Larson sent me made of petrified wood. I took many pics. in an attempt to do this piece justice. I think I came close.
I also found these two pieces together about 6 inches beneath the ground. What are they?
I have found these things before, and never did a lot of follow up on them. Any info. Is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
