Was out the other day and stumbled across a pocket of 9 percussion caps, they appear unfired, and heavily weathered. I was in an area that saw activity in the Civil War, and the current land owner doesn't own any blackpowder weapons. The caps appear to be No. 11 pistol caps. So my question is. . does anyone know what "period" caps would look like? Would there be markings to look for, or lack there of? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
