Penny bag bonanza!

I have a bank with a coin machine that delights to sell me bags when they’re full. This time I got the alert: “We can see a lot of wheat pennies in one of the (penny) bags.” They weren’t exaggerating. There were a couple hundred commons (40s-50s), a couple dozen earlier dates, and eight Indians. Oh yeah, and a Civil War token. Not a bad search while watching a Pirate game on TV!

Just curious, do they just give you the bag? What does a bag go for? Those are heavy! Do you suppose there might be silver in the quarter, dime, nickel bags? I'm guessing the machine reject those.... Nice recoveries! How long does it take to go through a bag?

$50 penny bag. Anything pre-1959 is easy to spot. Someday I’ll get lucky again with a ‘72 double die. Dime bags ($1000) almost always have silver. Nickel bags often a Buff and more often multiple war nickels. Occasional V. Quarters occasional silver and more often Ws. Never a Stander or a Barber yet. Get through pennies quick; at 3% I dump those.
