PENNSYLVANIA'S UNDERGROUND (off the Believable Path)

But Who Knows ?
Maybe some actual Facts Mixed in ?

SAMPLE

Functions: UnknownLevels: Unknown
Tunnels to: Unknown
Notes: Two boys enter a cave in a Pittsburgh suburb that was uncovered by road excavation work, only to find a partially buried thermol-bore [a perfectly round fused polished shaft apparently melted through the rock], partially concealed by dirt, and which they uncover and explore. Their dog runs down the sloping shaft, which is about 4 ft. in diameter, ahead of them until a deep, vibrating sound is heard, following which the dog came running back out of the shaft, clawing its way over them and in total terror, running back home. The cave was then subsequently covered by further road excavation. Also rumors of old robber gangs in frontier times who would rob banks and escape to hide away in ancient caverns underground, via an "automatic door" they had discovered in the cliffs.[/color]

Re: PENNSYLVANIA'S UNDERGROUND (off the Believable Path)

I had a friend tell me something of vaults or tunnels on the hills facing the Monongahela River near Pitts. He ran heavy equipment for a large contractor
& said they uncovered a few but were told to cover them for fear an investigation
into them would slow down work progress on that job. Haven't thought of them
for years. I know he didn't call them caves. Good post, thanks.

Re: PENNSYLVANIA'S UNDERGROUND (off the Believable Path)

Things only sound preposterous until they are proven. The bible stated that men lived for 600 years in ancient times! Impossible! We say. Then today I'm reading the news and I learn scientists are manipulating the aging gene to a resultant 10 fold inrease in lifespan. Human tests are next. We are only begining to see the amazing things that will be coming...

Re: PENNSYLVANIA'S UNDERGROUND (off the Believable Path)

Could be a ring of truth to it. Back when they were building the U.S.Steel Bldg. in downtown Pittsburgh they found the remnants of an old canal or something like it along with a wooden canoe. It was probably 20 feet deep where they discovered it. It was found during excavation when a parking garage was torn down.

Also, in the town of Sharpsburg, there is a street that was built over a canal. Not suprisingly, the street's name is Canal St.
In a church I used to belong to, they have a pic hanging of the church from over 100 years ago from a hill across the street and the canal is plainly visable in it.

How soon we forget our not so distant history.

The bad part is when construction foreman ignore artifacts or other finds
because if turned in & found to be historical, all work on the site may be halted.
As everthing today, money rules all.
