Nice !

If the images on the screen don't deceive me, some of the good black stuff is basinite -- black jasper. At one time they mined it, slabbed it with rock saws and sold it to the jewelry trade as "touchstone" (for streak tests by gold workers).

Blades! Love em.

Edit: I wasn't yelling at ya Airborne! I posted at the same time as you and it looks like I was yelling...nevermind.

cool, always appreciate the knowledge and information you bring into the mix here.

Thanks for the comments folks, glad you enjoy them, I really like them too, though their exact use I'm not sure of. They would make good hand held tools, but I could also see them hafted and used in a handle or arrowshaft too.

Both frames are beautiful. Ovates. Thats cool. Maybe tomorrow I will be so lucky. Did you find the cache?? Very nice.

Thirty7, That first frame looks as pretty as a picture. So the cache blades are what size? That would be a great find. Blades all together just waiting for some very lucky person. Excellent job!

thanks Tn, no these are part of a collection found near Harrisburg Pa, found along the Susquehanna river. Cool little piece you found there. I'm not sure what it is, looks similar though.

very nice! down here in south jersey they are known as strike a lites.

similar form, but I think strike a lights are smaller and show serious wear from starting fires. I've never found one myself.

Nice frame.

In seventeen years of collecting in Pennsylvania, I have found only one decent ovate.

Pm me your address and I'll send you a couple in the mail, you really helped me out with iding Pa. types and I'd be glad to add a couple more ovates to your collection. These were all found along the Susquehanna river near Harrisburg.
