Early Sunday hunt yields some oldies....

Got out early today to make a hunt happen before church.
Upon leaving my truck I glanced into the fenced zoo area to find, to my surprise, adult campers with tents pitched. That's a first for me. Didn't know the Maryland Zoo was allowing over-nighters within the fence.

Was digging the usual rusted iron and then got my first coin...a 1908 Barber dime. Over the next two hours I pulled two nickels (a no date V and a '48 Jeff, two wheats (1918 and 1929), and a United Railways and Electric Company streetcar token. Running out of time, I was thinking I may leave the field without an IHP, but I headed back to where I dug the Barber and unearthed an 1887 IHP, my thirteenth Indian of June.

Thanks for checking out this post. Happy Hunting!

Great hunt! :occasion14:

Nice bunch of coins

Awesome! Congrats!

Congrats on rescuing those bodacious old coins from their dirt grave - fantastic finds and they are still in good shape - thank you for sharing your picture and story with all of us & I wish you many more great finds while out dirt fishing.

Awesome variety, nice crisp detail on that IHP, great hunting!

Thanks Texas Ed! Injuns from this area usually look pretty decent upon rescue, a little green around the gills, but they clean up nice.

Thanks cjon455! I think I'll head back to the spot where the Barber dime and IHP came from. I may get one more shot at the park by end of the month; after that we're out of the parks 'til Sep 1st.

Thanks port ewen ace! Let's say "It was a happening". I like that these finds keep happening!

Thanks MSbeepbeep! I was feeling the summer heat even though it was morning, but it was worth the sweat.

Thanks pepperdawg! Appreciate your like and comment. Hunting venues will change for July and August, but hope to bring home some keepers still.

Thanks texjim! It was a morning of hard work. Got some killer square nails, and , as you see, some keepers.

Thanks Professor! It a tricky area to hunt with all the iron, but it's not so bad that you can't here the good signals.

Thanks Art! It was pretty sweet to dig silver as the first coin of the morning.:happysmiley:

Thanks 46wheat! I'll take your advice and "keep swinging' and keep smilin"!
