PEN LIKE OBJECT?

Found this on an 1800s farm site in NJ. Here are the details. I have no idea where to even start. It was found near the former granary building of the farm.

4 inches long
weight is 40.3 grams
Whites V3I VDI was 62 to 67
Found 4" below surface
The circle piece on top has threads at the base like it was screwed into the long piece.
