Bearing problems bigtime with pedestal pumps and the bigger you go the more troublesome. You must utilize a rubber vibration dampeded LOVEJOY CONNECTOR to couple them together. But makes a air pump quite a pain also with much more convalution. The rubber shocks wear out readily and mounting must be EXACT on the X-Y-Z axis for correct alignment, easier the smaller you go. Whenever possible use a engine mounted pump. That 24 hp is a HUGE engine but no specifics posted so........thats as far as I can go with assistance without mo'info'-John

Thanks John
The eng is a gx670
Has 1 1/8 " keyed shaft but guess I'm gona change that
It's hardened so ill have to put it on a lathe and turn it to 1"
I just don't know how far ill get with threading it

I would not even attempt it as thats a expensive engine--I'd just go ahead and buy a threaded shaft and replace as you'd have to do a complete engine teardown either way soooooo. What are you trying to run as a 24 hp is enough to run a 8" dredge--or a LLA huge trommel or purt' near anything?? John

Already had the engine and I didn't have to tear down

I had a machinist friend let me borrow some tooling
Put it on a lathe bed let it idle turned it to 1"
Will pick up a die and tread the shaft tomorrow
I'm .001 out from one end to the other turned out a lot easer than what I thought
Pump will be here later in the week let ya know how it goes
