Pect Wood?

Found this today in N Ga. There has been other pieces I have seen but none like this one. Looks like it was once in a fire to me. The end is round like a tree branch then further up it looks to of been burnt. It is black towards the narrow end. If it is from a ancient fire my question would be.... how long would it take to turn to stone? Kinda of a neat find for me. I have found Native American Artifacts in the same stretch of land. Nice find Rock. It looks like a piece of petrified wood... That at some point Was in a fire Probably caused by lightning In an ancient forest.

Its 7 inches long and 2 inches wide at the big end. I forgot to mention that. I have found some flat pieces before but not any still in the shape of a limb. I found it interesting seeing all I was finding was a few scrapers.

I moved this one due to the cleaning of it. It has a red stain on the bottom area.
