What?! This is some crazy stuff. The museum is in Harrisburg. I wonder if they still have these teeth!
 

Interesting. Shame we have no pictures.

I suspect these were abnormalities known as "enamel pearls" which can form on the roots, the lower part of the crowns and in between the permanent teeth of adult humans. Around 1% of adult humans may develop them and they will continue to enlarge unless a dentist removes them. They're generally the result of growth around trapped plaque and associated with peridontal disease (inflammation of the gums).

These are human teeth, but not the ones referred to in the press article:
