Went on a club hunt Sunday found the peace dollar in the first 15 min. I thought for sure it was a smashed can. It read about 96 on the DFX. It also was in the middle of what appeared to be a old fire pit. It was a depression in the woods about 3 ft. diameter and sunken in the middle about 8 in. It pinpointed at 3 in. so i dug it. Sure glad I decided to dig. At first I didnt think it was a coin because of the bezel. What a rush when I wiped some of the mud off. I found the heat locket about an hour later at about 4 inches it is 1/20 th 14k? At the end of our hunt a few of us went back out for about 2 hours I then foud the Bufflo Nickle at abot 1/2 inch deep. I also found a little firemans hat I will try to get a pic of later it is about 1 inch Square. Many of the others in the club also did well 2 halves were found I think 3 mercs a few bufflos a v nickle and many wheats. It is sure fun to go out with a group and see what everyone else is finding. Great way to meet people and learn new things.

Sherman I have not hunted there and am not that familiar with it. I have only hunted about 2 years and joined a club in October of last year. I enjoy hunting in forest preserves most of the time. Maybe we could hunt together sometime Sherman if you are in the area.

Haupin we always hunt in forset preserves. We have a meeting once a month and go out on 2 hunts together every month. It is a lot of fun.
