I learned the sad new last night. Famed treasure hunter John S. Potter, Jr. has crossed the bar.

I had the great fortune to meet him at the Weller Seminar in June 2013, and will never forget him!

Requiescat in pace:

John Potter Legendary Treasure Hunter

So sad, My Prayers are with his family. I was just reading his book again last night. Us arm chair treasure hunters learned a lot reading his Book.

A great loss of a wealth of knowledge. Great books. My prayers are with his friends & family.

very sorry to hear that. Our condolences to family and friends.

Much encouragement and many dreams from my well read copy of The Treasure Divers Guide. Always a sadness when a leader and teacher passes - I was never fortunate enough to meet him.

The treasures divers guide is the most comprehensive text available to treasure hunters. a must tool and wonderland of knowledge for the professional and armature alike. john Potter will be missed ,.

Such sad news.... Best wishes and prayers for his family.

If TDG wasn't the first book that hooked me, it was one of the first!

He now knows where it all is!!

Rest in Peace John. I keep reading The Treasure Divers Guide.

prayers of comfort said for his family and friends!!

Sea Rogue,
Thanks for posting that sad story.
Back in 1993, I took the chance to write John about his knowledge concerning Cordova's 1605 fleet. Though he could not add more than he had written in his "Bible" book, the THG, his letters to me from Hong Kong, where he was living, are, today, part of my kept 'treasures'. He now sails under 'fair winds and a following sea'.
Farewell, and God's speed, John.
Don.....

My condolences to the family and rest in peace John.
C.B.

He lived a full life, and he allowed others to pursue their dreams, too. The 'Home Wrecker' will be loved for generations to come.

Art McKee autographed my Treasure Divers Guide. My book went from new to well worn.

He gave us a lot.

Thanks John.
