My friend at work has this plate that was found in Victor Colorado. It is a little bigger than a license plate. The bottom has other applications pending stamped on it. There is a number on the back you can't read. Thanks in advance!!! It was found mounted with various Railroad tools in a display. media0.jpgmedia0_01.jpg

After looking around, I believe it is off some type of Railroad car. Maybe some kind of ore car since there were a lot of those around. There were 3 railroads back at the time of the patents. It would be very nice to trace it to one of the railroads or at least a type of car. Happy Hunting!

With some research, one could positively identify it as I am sure very few patents (if any, other than this one) can claim all those different patent dates.
The easiest way to research this would be to search the USPTO Gazette indexes for a match across all those dates - but I don't think those indexes are digitized (other than as images, or unless you know the specific patent number.

Maybe? I've just never seen the Gazette indexes in a searchable format other than by date of issuance, inventor, Patent #.
