I have fumbled around the patent website, but i clearly dont know what i am doing...
Any ideas?

It is the inside of a valve/tap. Maybe for a small keg or a drain. It's one of the oldest ones that I've seen.

I dont know exactly how patents work, but I found a patent drawing for a gas light fixture in which the valve "E" looks very similar to the barrel taps and the fire hose nozzle that Don posted. I am guessing that they were likely all covered by the same patent as they have the same patent date
