It depends on what kind of hunting you want to do. West Pasco or East Pasco?

I will be in west Pasco but am open to driving to get to a good spot. I am still a newbie but I usually coin shoot but just love the hobby and willing to look for anything.

Let's see, the Pasco beaches are small and can be hunted from 7-9 a.m. and after 6 p.m. The parks are pretty much a no-no and the schools are fenced and NO TRESSPASSING signs are posted. You should talk to your in-laws, maybe they will know some spots. Maybe this will be helpful to you. http://fivay.org/index.html

Diggin in GA,

Hi. I don't want to throw water on your metal detecting fire, but in Pasco County there aren't many places that one can go. Almost all county owned land (the citizen's land) is off limits. Schools have big no trespassing signs and they mean it. There are three beaches that one can go to for a limited time (2 hours or something like that) at a specified location. Believe me these three beaches won't have much more than a penny. Private places would be the ideal location.

Most of us from Pasco end up heading south to Pinellas County. I don't know which part of west Pasco that you are heading to but I would recommend to head a little bit south to hunt at one of the beaches. If you are interested in a list of possible good sites send me a message and I'll share with you some good possibilities.

There are many old homes in the area. If your family here knows someone with one maybe they can ask if you could run your metal detector on it. Most people will give you permission to hunt their property if they are nice. Of course if they have a $10,000.00 lawn nothing will work.....

Have a nice time on your trip to Pasco.

Yeah your best bet is to make the 30 or so minute drive to one of the Pinellas County beaches. Not much around here in Pasco if you're into beach hunting. I have ideas for relic hunting and some old swimming holes that I haven't gotten around to checking yet though.

The last time I was down there me and my father-in-law went to lacoochee under a long bridge over the river there. We found some clad and I found a Kennedy half that looked like it was lost the day it was issued from the bank. I'm not sure if we were "supposed" to be there or not, but there were people riding atv's through the mud down there so I guess we were ok.
