Gave off a great signal. About couldn't see it digging around with pinpointer. Finally got on it. I don't think it's a straight up flat button. It's small. In certain natural light/angles I can see a faint cross on it

The center rod is large in mine. I think it's rivet for saddle or clothing/belt like Hendrix said

I may be over thinking this but it looks like a broken off screw head...the kind that
get hung up in your tire and you drive around a while and it wears the head down.
Look close and the screw driver orients the north south look in it.

Very possible, that's the Phillips head just worn down and flattened
