Hello All. Found this at a 1900's farm house site in an old buried trash pit. Nothing that I can see written on it but it is way too heavy to be a toy. Even so, I can't imagine someone trashing a real gun.

Maybe this is a good cantidate for electrolysis? Any ideas on what it once was?

Thanks for the view and please let me know if can hep w an ID. HH C9

Sorry-can't really put an i.d. on that...and i'm pretty sure that electrolysis would deteriorate it further to the point that it would look even less like a gun. BUT...if you have an electrolysis tank..toss it in and see you have nothing to lose at this point as there is not much left. And-may come as a surprise...but - guns are actually at the top of the list of things people throw away...find more guns in the river than anything else sometimes...thanks for sharing and good luck!! let us know how it turns out..ddf

Do electrolysis on it , it wont hurt it in fact it will help it , as this process actually hardens the iron back together yes some surface rust will come off but as i said it will help it make sure you neutralize the peice afterwards and coat of it with a product of your choice ! And yes without a doubt a gun !

From what I can see, it looks like the action of a Stevens "Scout" rolling block .22 rifle. They were a boy's rifle that were very popular back in the 1920's and 1930' due to their low cost and small size.

Next time one of the nanny states like CA does a "gun buy back" show up with that and demand they give you the money for it... In NY you could probably go to prison for having that.
