Part of a heart-shaped brass relic. Might be colonial era. Any guesses?

Found a couple of pieces to this heart-shaped relic. It's brass, paper thin and fragile. Maybe stamped brass, since you can see the front design reversed on the back. Couldn't find the rest of it, but maybe someone can ID what it might be. Too delicate to be a button or a rosette. I dug it at a colonial site, but it may not be that old. Any help would be appreciated.

FBT - You've been playing this game long enough to know you need to post the size.

I'm guessing it is a late 19th C lady's butterfly buckle.

That's why I usually hold the relic in my hand. It gives you a decent idea as to size. The pieces I have measure a total of 3/4" by 1 1/4" or so. Very small, definitely too small to be a buckle.

It's just a piece. Still large enough to be part of a buckle.
