Found these two small items the long piece I think might be from an old clock maybe? The little round thing I have no clue!I don't know what kind of metal it is, they were found in the same area but not next to each other. I cut off the tape measure part of the photo, the long thing in 1 1/2 inches long. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I am digging in the woods in East Texas (12 Miles of mostly woods) I am in Franklin County Texas on a private ranch. There was one homestead here in the early 1900's. I was told that there may have been a moonshine operation in a specific area here, but after 6 months of detecting, I see no proof of that. I found an area where I believe I have found a second and even a third homestead, but I can only base that on my findings. I only dig hear in the winter months, then I boot out the renters and go back to Wisconsin!

I agree with the longer item being from a hydraulic something, as it looks a lot like the piston from a brake system master cylinder (configurations vary, and the link is obviously not a match, but rather intended to show some similarity); Accu-Products Specialties - Rebuild Kit For 1981-1984 TZ250 Rear Master Cylinder - Accu-Products - Webstore
Its shorter than ones I've seen though, so I don't know if maybe its from some application on a tractor that I'm not samiliar with, or a motorcycle? And I've never torn apart pumps, so that's still entirely possible.

And the smaller item could be related (or not), as it looks to have the configuration of a regulator of some sort (possibly for fluid, or possibly gas).

Very good! Thank you, it looks very similar to the one on the link, close enough for my satisfaction! I am going to mark it solved. Thanks again!

You thought that it was part of a clock, what made you change your mind?
I still think the big one looks too much like part of an old clock's gear, iron axis with brass fitting for the (missing) cog and the "drum/cage" cog (no idea what it's called...) thingy, with the corroded small iron bars all in one mass...

To me, it looks too wimpy to be a brake hydraulic part. I'd say it's more likely to be a spool valve from an automatic transmission or some sort of hydraulic control valve.

Seeing how I went back today and found a gear (the round thing that looks like a wheel) in the same general area. I think I will revert back to thinking it is from a clock! LOL

Thanks cudamark for sharing your thoughts with me, I am back to thinking it is from a clock! LOL
