Hello Tnet,

Sorry for the lack of photos and measument !

Found this bit today, is about 2,5 cm in length. Made of copper or bronze and got a slight curve in in it. Found on a field full of stuff from the 1500/1900s.
Anybody who can help me out ?

Thanks !

Maybe a dress hook.

Hook fasteners seemed to have disappeared from about the time of the Norman Conquest. However they resurfaced in the 15thC and reached their height to popularity in the 16thC. The hook and eye design has continued right up to present day.

Looks like a latch to a trunk maybe. Cool find though

Help us help you by providing a couple more photos (i.e. the opposite side & side view).

Your buckle find looks old, like 17thc old!
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with European clothing/horse tack from the period.

Hope you get an answer to your question,
Dave

Its hard to see on my picture but in loop is a bit of iron to tighten the leather or something. But nevertheless thanks for the reply !

It could be a book latch. As you point out, it's hard to tell from that one picture.

Its a small medieval strap buckle, circa 14th - 15th C, probably went on a spur.
