Well, this area in upstate New York on Lake Champlain experienced a lot of activity from 1666 to the present. I have recovered beautiful relics and coins from the late 18th century to the present. Maybe.

Oh, when posting my first post, I uploaded the photos directly from the SD Card, whereas, this time, I uploaded them directly from my hard drive. Another data point towards uploading photos to Treasurenet.com

I have uploaded directly from my camera with no problem. It seems I have a problem losing my attachments when I edit. But it shouldnt be that way.

Big Cypress, I think you nailed it...Federal General Service, Indian Wars era, 1865- ~1900.

I agree, BigCypressHunter is correct, and your time-dating guess is close, Ajaj. Button collectors call that button the Indian Wars Era version of US Army uniform "general service" button. It differs from the civil war era version by having a very high-relief ("raised") shield on the eagle's chest. It was first issued in 1875, and was in use until it was replaced by the "Great Seal" button in 1902.
