Hey all! I went to the local park in the dark again (brushing up on my detecting in dark for Florida in May- coronavirus control & God-willing...). I did pretty well, considering this park has been beaten by many different sticks.I also found that one of the nickels was a 1940 (not super old, but 80).
So, someone who knows old guns, tell me if the rounded metal piece I found might (or no) be part of a trigger guard?

I had a friend point out that the rounded (cast) metal might also be the handle for a lantern or lamp. Because it's so wide, I am thinking that is more likely what it is!
Mabe something like pictured?

I'll betcha a dollar it's part of a chain link fence loop topper. 3 years in either direction on the nickel date and it's a much better find. Keep at it and good luck out thar!

Nice job, congrats! :occasion14:

What three years are you referring to xr7ator? Sorry, ignorant to coins...
