My husband and I went to a local park this afternoon for a few hours to do some MD'ing and play with the different settings on the DFX's we are still trying to learn.
After about 1/2 an hour four kids gathered around me with curiosity in their eyes (ages about 6-10). The older one said he had seen one of those on TV. The others weren't sure what I was doing. So I unplugged the headphones so they could hear all the beeps and blurps which just amazed them. Luckily just after they arrived the first thing I dug in their presence was a dime.....well it was on after that.
They all had to try it which they seemed to enjoy thouroughly. We dug up a few pull tabs, coins and bottle caps but each and every find was like a treasure chest to these little fellows.
My husband (noticing what was going on) finally worked his way over to the area I was in and planted the few coins he had found. These little guys all got to find a coin and assisted in the digging which I enjoyed just as much as they did at seeing the little faces light up once the planted coins were found.
This went on for the next two hours and I just had a great time watching these kids. We taught them the basics of MD'ing...covering the holes...keeping the trash to throw away once we were done, but the younger of the bunch took all the pull tabs, caps and some coins home with him...lol.
Anyway, we had a great time today and hopefully there will be a couple of MD'ers in the near future.
