Hello everyone.
I have a figure that i think is classed as Parian Ware. She is 11 inches high, but i cannot find any markings on her.Does anyone know her name and does she have any particular value?
She could do with a clean as she is a bit dirty but no signs of damage.
Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this for me.
All the best
Phil

Could we see the bottom and back? Looking at the joining between the base and figure, it appears to be glue.
The older ones were bolted together .or one piece...The texture and definition look good. Thats why I would like to see the bottom. I have a feeling it is rather new and cast from some material. :D

It would appear to be a Parian bust of Clytie, a water-nymph in Greek mythology. She was daughter of Oceanus and Tethys, and fell in love with Apollo. However, he abandoned her, and she became so disconsolate that after nine days she was turned into a sunflower— hence the petals of the sculpture. Here is a link to a similar bust offered by Cowan's Auctions in 2004, with an estimated value of $100-200:

quote from diving doc above........''What does a Head Banger do? Is it something you can talk about?
I'm from the islands and I'm confused......................butttttttttt
I'm willing to learn. Anthing to do with el dente? ''
to understand what a headbanger does you must listen to music coming from groups with names like primus, white zombie, pantera, nine inch nails, marilyn manson, etc.....it also would help if you had attended woodstock 94, as you would have gotten to see up close and personal how to headbang and slam dance in 11 inches of solid mud littered with 2 million beer cans, 17,000 shirts, several hundred mashed flat tents and associated acoutriments, which adds a whole new twist to the fun and games...................gldhntr....been there,, done that.................

After study of the photograph and looking at several actual statues belonging to friends... I believe the statue is a recent reproduction. Undetermined value. More information: Bottom and back photo's were not posted...Sorry if this offends anyone. :D
