I'm taking this one with a Grain of Salt for 2 Reasons.
#1 He may have Been mistaken on Exactly where it was buried.
#2 the last Line Suggests this may have been a B.S. story for a Bank.
or even a way to get top dollar for the property.
Perhaps More Research on whether J.M. Russom Ever existed in Greene County & If he had Relations at or to a Bank needed.
that said ; Skepticism is the Enemy of the true Treasure Hunter / Finder !

in any case If the property is now Woods, or an empty Lot.
The Site may still hold Treasures of all kinds
