These were found in a plowed field. I believe it is fluted. Am I correct and would that mean it is Paleo?? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1432672845.601218.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1432672869.663888.jpg

Would of been a nice keeper if whole. Everyone I find looks just like yours :(

Looks pretty close to me. Don't you think?

I think so but I'm far from expert level. Does the end look snapped off worked?

It is worked. It looks like it was turned into a scraper.

Sometimes it's helpful to know the part of the country an artifact was found in. Just the general location, not the exact spot may be helpful.

That helps. I wouldn't have a clue about Illinois, but lookin it up they have some scattered temporary paleo sites, but one big one in Jersey County. I would say your find is Paleo. Good to know the location of a find, as you can go back and check the research of that area and see what people were known to be there. Of course, you might make a find that establishes the presence of people in an area that were never thought to be there. Cool find, and keep checkin that spot.

This is JMO it looks like it was never finished, a flute was taken off one side and then maybe it snapped when they tried the other side and made a scraper out of it. Cool find:thumbsup:

The pics in the article are from a site in south Carolina. Calling them exotic Clovis tools

If we could have just gotten those Paleo guys to stay still there tools would not be so scattered. I think we all dream of that one camp site that is so very old.
