That's a gorgoeus piece. Can you give more reference to where you found it and and "a foot down" in what conditions? Thanks.

Found near a 1940s dump in flatland desert. Was digging bottles in the dump and got curious and went to dig out some of the alkali patches near the edges of the dump when i found the rock. Looked a little too old, even and crude at the same time to be something from the 40s. Old paiute reservation from the late 1890s etc nearby so it has me wondering if maybe some kin through it out.

Nice find, and a good story to tell behind the find.

Is that a coin for size reference in the photo? What is the measurements of this relic?

It looks complete, without any damage.

Very nice. Congratulations on the find.

How big is it looks to be a pestle .... I don’t recall seeing any others with a design etched into it .... somebody spent a lot of time crafting that great find

I believe SF hit the nail on the head, it is not a roller pedestal. I think it’s a Atlatl weight. Congrats on a really nice find!

It sure looks like it has seen some heat--reminiscent of a shaft straightener but without a groove.

Too small and tapered for a pestle. Never seen one decorated like that either.

Perhaps a charm-stone or what south fork suggested.

Is that fire soot? Maybe evidence of cremation item.
