I’m on vacation in the North Georgia mountains and had to stop at a couple of thrifts. I’ve tried buying a couple of paintings before and discovered that one was tourist art and the other one was hotel art. When I saw this piece for two dollars I thought I would try again. It’s got a scratch, but is in a older frame. It is painted on a board and has a rough draft of the back.
Any thoughts?

Methinks two dollar bought a pretty old and rather appealing piece of art. I like it.

That's a beautiful painting, and for $2 I think you got an amazing deal. Could you post a bigger picture of the artists signature?

Thanks for the feedback. This is the best I can do with my phone.
I see a capital E then a lower case a then a lower case p with squiggles after.

Nice pick for $2. Good eye!

Dude.... Please tell me the city and whether or not they have anything else like this.

Seems the boats are the higher priced paintings. Heck of a find for sure. I'd say it would be worth the price of having a little restoration done on it and then hang it up on the wall. I'd have a problem letting something like that go, if I found it for just couple bucks.

:laughing7: I hope they have more since I will be drop by again on my way out of town.

Welcome to t-net. Since you are local...There are a couple of local, junky thirift shops just outside of Cleveland, Ga heading east toward Clarksville on 115. I think I was just in the right place at the right time. I was actually heading to an antique mall in Clarksville and stumbled upon them. I did find a little piece of sterling in the other one.

There does seem to be a broad range in prices. I'm definitely inclined to keep it. I've never had a piece restored, but I will look into it.

The price was absolutely right. If it was $20 then I probably wouldn't have had the confidence to take a risk on it since I haven't had luck buying paintings.

Well done and great eye! It looks to be the original frame too

Very nice find, congrats! :occasion14:

I like it. I'd have bought it. What is the size of the painting?
