I went to the lake and had a rough day finding a lot of trash and almost gave up and went home. Glad now that I stayed with it. I found a 14K gold chain and if it isn't fake, I paid for my At/Pro today.
Found lots of trash and the chain was within the range of lots of trash targets and kept falling out of my scoop. The 3rd scoop was the charm. Some clad, about $1.15, and the chain weighed on my postal scale between 1.0 and 1.1 ounce. One quarter in water between chest and neck deep gave me a fit, but the waves from the boat were pushing me around quite a bit.

Does gold turn dark brown or is it just the lighting in your photo?

Check the markings on the chain like ? 14k ? ,925 ? Italy ?, s.s. ? , what number comes on the detector screen 55,56, or around their or was it 90, 91 or near their ?, either way once you clean it up that's a nice chain Congrads !

It has 14K and Italy on the clasp. I believe it's gold, but hope to have it tested. 14K is not going to be bright yellow like the 18K ring I found July-13. I'm going to try and clean it up Sunday and see what it looks like.

Ive found a bracelet with that same link pattern marked Italy 14k and its fake. Ive seen several people post chains with that same pattern and same stamps and they were all fake...Ive seen 10k tarnish like that but not 14k...I hope its real but looks like its going to be brass...let us know how it turns out...good luck.

Found what looks like the same chain a couple weeks ago......marked 14K.......acid test = junk. I hope you have better luck with yours.
