I belive it might have been made by Star Lock
Works of Philadelphia.They started in 1869
and went out of business in the late 1800,s.
I found this at Yahoo under star lock works . Jimbob

Didnt railroad locks also have the bottom chain go through the dust cover? Tats what threw me off on this one....and the key hole is wrong ....I think this one is looking homemade.....no marking on face or dust cover....

I am not good with locks but yes, I think the chain goes underneath. Some more pics would help.

It looks very much like a generic version of this solid brass B & O Railroad padlock made by F.S. Hardware Co. (lock on the right with the chain) My book doesnt show the keyhole.

My brother in law gave me a railroad switch lock he
aquiered when he worked for g.n.r.r. The hole is the
same and it has KELINE on the hole cover. Jimbob
