For sure it is a keyhole cover to a padlock. Mid 1800's  It says W.W.& CO.

Eagle" Lock Fly: Very neat piece, has a spread eagle, and found in South Mtn/Wilderness area. These brass pieces covered the keyhole on mid 1800's padlocks. The Eagle is a scarcely seen piece, though. MD518JFJJ
$12

Take Care,
Pete :hello:

I know this is an old post, but I purchased this lock for a future display. It is a smokehouse lock dating between 1854 - 1874. So I thought this would fit in nicely. But today I seen this lock in Crouch's Civil War Artifact book. As a possible government contract lock (page 43) (referring to having the eagle I'm sure)3 aa.jpg
