I don't usually complain about the USPS because for 199 out of 200 packages, I never have a problem. I guess my luck ran out. Here's the story....

So I sold the last 2 digital to analog converters back on May 1 (I bought 3 for $1 each). I mailed them the next day. The buyer (who purchased both) is new to ebay. He is local, about 5 miles away. I printed my label via ebay and shipped off the next day. Turns out the newbie didn't list his suite number on his stated address so the package was not deliverable. The 1st attempted delivery was the next day on May 3. Undeliverable. So the next step should be uhh? return to sender... maybe, ya think? Noooo, that would make sense, we can't have that. Long story short here it is June 11, almost 6 weeks later and the package is still getting pushed through a revolving door. It even went to Minnesota and back, imagine that. I called USPS about this, gave them the information, my phone number, email, etc., etc, and he gave me a case number and said they would track it down for me for return. This was 8 days ago. I'm really getting tired of waiting for the package to get returned to me. Thanks for letting me vent my frustrations, I'm fixing to waste another hour on the phone with these jerk offs.

One more thing....

Look at the tracking info. on this puppy! -

With the volume I ship I deal with this a couple times a month. You ever wonder why your mail goes missing. Checkout these photos. Last week I am in the hood in Philadelphia at one of my wholesalers. You have to be alert as there are skells wandering all around. But hell the mail lady don't care especially at the beginning of the month when she is loaded down with checks.

Why do they botch the local deliveries so much? Sent a package to the north side of the city, took 8 days cause it was forwarded to oblivion. The buyer was no noob 500+ feedbacks, ebay label too.

Well if it makes you feel any better or still waiting for income tax return Check. We sent it in April 10 haven't seen it yet... Frustrating governments quick to take it but they sure don't want to give it back to quickly!

Sent an important package of time sensitive documents to AK from FL.

Insured, guaranteed, blah blah blah.

Package never showed.

No insurance because they are still looking- and looking-

Requests sent.

Still can't find it.

We have to put together another package of sworn notarized official documents and they get to the court a week and a half past the hearing. (citizenship thing, kinda important)

45 days later the USPS finds the first package, completes delivery.

They show us the 'sorry for you' fine print and don't pay out the $50 insurance even though we had to repurchase all the original documents and pay for a notary and so on.

Piss off they said.

Anything important goes FedEx now.

I made another call, got yet another case number. No more activity shown yet. I don't usually have any gripes with the USPS. I just don't understand why something doesn't automatically get returned to the sender when delivery cannot be made. Doesn't make any sense, but then they ARE a Gov. agency so I should expect as much I guess.

Update, thought it was coming back to me since it was local again to my sort facility, no such luck. Now it's in Boston! Remind you this was a local address less than 5 miles away. Coming up on 8 weeks since it was mailed off. I have yet to hear anything from the buyer either. $79.98, I would have been complaining, lol.

It has only been in the system for 2 weeks but I think this one has potential to make a run at the crown! It is supposed to be going to colorado. And I just noticed today, and no the buyer has contacted me about it yet.

Nice. We should start a thread to see who has the longest running package lost in the system.

Coincidentally, the lady at the post office just called to let me know that the package was in Boston, duh!

Talked to the guy at the post office today, he said there is an online form 1000 that you can fill out to recall a package. I haven't checked it out myself, but you might want to look into it.

Digs, the po out here on 84 told me, they were told they don't have to scan the packages if they are real busy, just send them to opa locka. I let my postman pick them up, he'll scan them for me.
It's like, why am I paying for an advertised service, that's not getting performed(at the po). :BangHead:

5 miles away, youd'a done better to deliver, or have him meet you at Publix or Walgreens.

About the PS Form 1000, Claim for loss or damage, already been told that it's technically not "lost" or damaged because the tracking information is still active. Another update...

It left Boston and went to Nashua, N.H., now it departed N.H. for destination/s unknown.

If I would have known this was going to happen, I would have. lol

I usually have them scan my packages when I drop them off. Sometimes i'll leave them in the cart they have there for pre labeled packages. I have had a few show up at Opa-Locka before getting scanned.

This looks like the end of the line for my lost package, it might make it to it's intended destination.

Crud. What is the sorry for you clause? Do they only pay out for the cost of shipping? I won't send anything expensive or that I really about via USPS.

Dec. 29, 2008 we took 4 kids to get passports. 3 weeks later 3 passports arrive. The 4th is missing. No one knows where it is. Passport office looks up tracking; USPS has no idea where it is. THIS IS HER PASSPORT AND BIRTH CERTIFICATE! Finally, USPS says they think they delivered it to the wrong zip code. (My mail carrier tells me it is one of the worst areas around here.) Isn't that just great! Is USPS going to protect her identity? Passport agency overnights a new passport; they offer to pay for the replacement birth certificate.

In the middle of July the original passport and birth certificate arrive. Just like regular mail. No extra postmarks, nothing. I asked them, Where was this for 6 months? they claim they just got it.

I HATE USPS WITH A PASSION.

It has to do with paying the insurance if the package is actually lost or destroyed, which- forever misdirected in transit does not qualify as lost or destroyed.

It's just temporarily misplaced, they will always be looking for it.

Which addresses the above statement concerning the longest package ever lost by the USPS...

That can't be answered, because the first package ever lost is still being looked for.

Darn kid lost it somewhere along the trail. it was in the original USPS Charter that they keep looking for it.

Update! Yay! The package arrived sitting on my doorstep this afternoon. The tracking information has not been updated though. Still shows it left Nashua, N.H. yesterday at 3:58 pm.

Now screw with them for not doing there job. Wait a day or 2 then file a claim for it being lost,,But do not accepct a check for the claim but just give them a chance to hire more people to look for it.This stinks,I do not think they ever fire a postman until they have been in jail long enough to lose there job.
