Maybe some type of a master link for a chain.Like some chain driven piece of farm equiptment. Some type of a keeper pin.

Is the arched end spring steel? If so, could be a pair of squeeze clippers, like once used for shearing sheep, or pruning shears.

Hey , maybe it's one of those things for taking up the slack in a close line rope .

I am pretty sure this is a "universal" wrench...possibly for water main supply lines to homes etc. The slotted end would be slipped over the lever on the valve and this wrench would provide extra leverage. Is the "v" end serrated? That would be a clincher. I have a slightly bigger version (12-15 inches) packed away somewhere. It came in a box o' tools I purchased at a flea market some time ago.

Does look a lot like the old sheep shears. Just another idea, but may have been used to prevent a pin from popping out, ie this could have been hammered onto the end of a pin to keep it from coming back out a hole. Hard to explain what I've got going in my head. Sort of like a cotter pin idea???

Howdy again folks! From what I could make out I didn't see a "hinge point" on this thingy (sorry for the technical term!). I know the shears/clippers/nippers/scissors things your referring to...I've seen 'em myself somewhere. The thing I have is very similar in shape to this whatzit but one forged piece of steel and about 3/4 inch "thick". The vee end of mine is serrated (kinda like the jaws of a pair of pliers) and had marks like they had been used to turn something. I dunno...I'd love to know if a definitive answer is ever found though! All the whozits and whatzits I've dug up while out-n-about are in storage back in the states but I'm sure I'll find some here in Germany to post in this forum <smile>.

Happy Hunting to all and to all a good night!

Batch is right on this one, I also have one and it is a universal Cultivator Wrench. They are pretty common in flea markets and junk stores in the south. Came in different sizes and configurations.
