extra everything, nothing worse then getting some where and finding your batties dead...if its a remote location then you dont want to waste time running back and forth. depending on when you go make sure its not hunting season if it is then so safety color would be ideal. this time of year extra gloves and socks! oh and a camera so we can see what you found!

Has site been detected before?
Do you have a pinpointer?
Are you experienced cutting clean "plugs"?
Initially, detect sides of walk paths, cart paths-driveways, outhouse, etc.
Look for a nearby creek/water source.
Do a walkabout looking for concentrations of metal.
Very good luck to you. Site sounds great.
Peace ✌

Hello Captbo,

Sounds like a great place to hunt!

1. Extra detector and pin pointer batteries
2. If very large, a portable GPS unit
3. Boots, gloves and multilayered cloths
4. Small and large digger depending on the area
5. Google Earth site – Arial view to look over the area
6. Interview (if possible) the owner; perhaps he can guide you to hot areas.
7. Check out any water sources “CincinnatiKid” has some good ideas.
8. Any large old tree should be detected very slowly in a spiral pattern to a radius of 20ft+

Regards,

Happy Hunting 2015

Awesome info. Thanks ! can't wait,, and as far as the owner know it has never been search! That being said The OWner is a friend and will be there,, how will we hand the finds! . My thoughts are, they will belong to him and he will be fair I would not stress our relationship !

Well I love finding old stuff, and there is potential to find some really old coins/relics there. If I absolutely had to I'd offer up everything I found, just for the thrill of finding it. Though that would be the last option, but if it was needed, I'd do it.
Good Luck, and happy hunting.
