Welcome to t-net PA Hunter. Nice assortment of artifacts. You are showing everything we have been talking about :)

Hi, you guys find quite a bit of quartz down that way. Here in Snyder Co. I find very little, i have 3 or4 pieces of it from 36 years of huntin. Quartzite on the otherhand is everywhere, and i usually find a few artifacts every year made from different colors of it - white, grey, yellow, and pink and brown. Hunt Hard.

Hi wells, there is definatley a lot of quartz down here. It's usually the first thing that catches my eye everytime I go out looking especially after it rains. Hard to miss a bright white rock stickin half way out of the dirt! As far as quartzite I've only ever found a few pieces. How about jasper and obsidian you find any of that? Ive found a few jasper pieces along with a couple broken obsidian pieces.

takes a long time to get about 16 drills
you are doin' good

I've only been hunting for about two years. I wish i had found all those! All of the drills except two were purchased from a friend. Everything else in the photos I personally found along with two of the drills "bottom center". The one drill seems like bone or tooth any thoughts?bone drill.jpg

You sure about the obsidian ? I only ever heard of one piece of it fromPa. but did'nt see it. Jasper is found in my area and is highly reguared by collectors here, it is thee thing to find. We get a lot of rhyolite also. Rhyolite, quartzite, jasper ,all come from sources 70 to 90 miles from my locale, so why not quartz ? I think it was only used where there was an abundance readily available its not quality stuff for hauling for long distance.

I'll post a pic of the ones that I found that I "think" are obsidian.

I believe that is what the arrowhead is made of. The other two are to glass like to be chert. but then again idk if the other two are artifacts tho they were found at very good locations.

Yeah after I posted it yours looks more shinny than mine.

PA Hunter the picture with the black background, the point at the bottom second from the left i believe it looks like a single barb atlatl dart point.
