Pinchot was the first Chief of the US Forest Service. Was really a mover in the conservation and forest management movement areas.

Somebody ought to tell the dealers this. I bought a Civil War Texas button on Ebay about a year ago. Thing looked good, I have all the reference books. When I got it home it STILL looked good, however...inquiring minds want to know. Several months later, I accidentally scratched the button to expose red brass. The originals were in yellow brass. I took it to one of the bigger shows here and one of the most reputable dealers in the nation, who I have known for 30 years, said yes, someone is reproducing them in red brass and they look very, very close to an original.

Since it had been so many months, I tossed it in the trash can on the way out of the building. Out of sight out of mind.

I Wouldn't have Liked Pinchot.
As Governor he supported the Volstead Act. wanted to make Pa 100% dry.
and though I don't drink, I think I would have under those circumstances.
Maybe even Produced and Distributed, as a matter of Respect for the constitution
& Freedom. & making the all mighty $$$ :occasion14:

He may have introduced the first 2 cent Gas tax too
