Hello Forum,

I’ve been detecting a site that was a colonial homestead, and I found these oxen shoes. I’ve found many horse shoes over the years but never oxen shoes. Thanks for looking!

Those are a good sign you are at an old site. Deep ox shoes can sound pretty good. I would work that site hard.

Cool! Definitely keep at that site. Last Ox shoe for me then produced an 1889 Seated dime.

I think you found a good place to do some serious detecting. Keep at it and good luck.

Very good sign of things to come. I dug 4 deeeeeeeeep ones yesterday at my old overgrown park, keep on beepin’!!!

Oxen were like the bull dozers / tractor trailers of the olde days because the were strong, hearty and could deal with the east coast climate better than other animals. In the few years I've been detecting I've probably found 70 of these in various spots. It's always a sign of older farm activity. I've only found a handful of horseshoes which I would think I'd find more.

Awesome I would be all over that site sounds like you have good times ahead. Tommy

The shoes are pretty good condition, congrats on your firsts & like the others keep at it there & GL

Old Ox shoes like that can sound really good and are indicative of the fact that you are on an old site as others have stated. Keep working that site, there’s more good finds there!
