Darn, I need a digital camera or scanner bad.? I will post pictures just as soon as I can.

Today's find in the misty rain, on the old logging trail leading to the river.? The detector was humming loud, something buried about 8 inches down, long & wide.? I started my digging & was quite surprised to find something I never seen before.? Believe me it was freaky looking, my 1st thought well, it's shaped like a cow head complete with horns.? 10 1/2" from tip to tip of horns, top of base(top of skull) to tip (nose) is 12". With the head being 5" wide.? I called my MD friend to come over to check it out, he knew what it was cause he found some before.? It is blacksmith made, & it connects to a tree/board or whatever & where ever it was convenient to call the oxen for feeding/working.? There were bells (not found) connected to the tip of the horns.? When the oxen heard these bells they came.

Have any of you ever found one of these?? Pretty neat looking.? After I get it cleaned up more, I will hang it at the barn for a conversation piece.

Re: Oxen Bell Ringer

RR, now that you've got a pic up, I'm deleting the eBay link that I originally posted, since it's clear that the items are not the same.

Interesting relic!

Re: Oxen Bell Ringer
