ok TNers i have 2 identification questions for you. both items were found in the northern catskill mtns. of NY on property that is said to have old logging trails. the first item was found 8 inches deep and came up as iron/foil on my BH pioneer 202. looks like it may be 1/2 of an ox shoe, but i was unsure. the second item was about 5 inches deep and has a round head but appears to be halved on the shaft, it also came up as iron/foil. someone suggested that it may be used to nail into the wooden head of an axe to put outward pressure on the axehead so it won't come off. any ideas are appreciated. BTW i am loving this treasure hunting business eventhough these are the only goodies i have picked up so far. thanks and HH

yeah sorry about the quarter, when using Paint i had to rotate and whatnot to cut it down properly. thanks for confirming the ox shoe. maybe i will post more shots of the nail because someone else from around here suggested it was used to tighten old fences...but i have no idea. thanks again.
